Labs
This is an advanced GIS class which assumes you took and understood the introductory class (GEOG 358). Although the instructions attempt to be verbose, you will need to stretch your critical (spatial) thinking skills and pause to think about what it is we want to accomplish before you blindly start following the directions. Take a minute, read through the lab steps, and ask yourself why it is I ask you to do something. Can you think of other ways to get to the answers to the questions?
These labs are largely written for ArcMap 10.6. However, operations from ArcMap 10.2 through 10.6 and even up to Pro all largely look the same although some of the tools may have shifted or changed names just to keep you on your toes. Although these labs are written so that you can follow them step by step, I expect you to flex those critical thinking skills of yours. Take a step back, read the learning objectives and ask yourself what steps are needed to get to that goal. When in doubt, Google it!
If you need a refresher from the intro class, feel free to go back and do the labs. All would be useful in brushing up, but particularly 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
