Executive Summary
- In the typical hierarchy of “data quality”, model results are usually relegated to the lowest levels where observations, even coarse scale observations, are considered better, whereas reanalysis results and large scale first order approximations are typically considered slightly lower. Despite the lower level, widespread use, reuse, and interoperability of model results tends to be regulated to sparse and scant training data or site specific analyses and scenario planning. This leaves the reuse and widescale deployment of those otherwise hard-won modeling efforts are underemployed at scale and left unused as the “best guess” for an area. The Lynker-Spatial Model Hydraulic Geometry dataset aims to change that as we capitalize on the FAIRification efforts of wide scale HEC-RAS model deployments in the calculation of sub-flowpath scale hydraulic relationships. This novel dataset exposes authoritative hydraulic model results and operational shaped libraries into a form amenable for interoperable deployments of the system in the form of hydraulic geometry relationships.
